Ardanaiseig hotel

Just back from a great press trip, which I would recommend to anyone who likes fine food and spectacular scenery.

Ardanaiseig hotel is a Scottish Baronial Mansion on the banks of Loch Awe in Argyle, on the way we saw some great scenery with the first falls of snow on the mountains.

We arrived to a warm welcome and a rousing speech by Jim Mather MSP, Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism who congratulated the Hotel on another award. In addition to receiving a third AA rosette and Inspector’s Choice status it has also been voted best Leisure Hotel in Scotland and 3rd best leisure hotel in the UK, as well as 61st best travel experience on planet earth by readers of Conde Nast Traveller Magazine.

Followed by a champagne buffet lunch which did not disappoint, the monkfish in a lime and chilli dressing was fantastic, but what stood out for me were the homemade chutneys.

After lunch a walk round the 100 acre estate is recommend, but no pressure to cover the full 100 acres! You see great views of Loch Awe and the surrounding mountains after just a few minutes walking.

The rooms are nice and comfortable  with a lovely warm feeling – the super king size bed  was just perfect after a long walk…….

Dinner was a 5-course taster menu, again this was done to perfection, served by friendly and knowledgeable staff.

A great experience, which I hope to visit for longer in the future.
