Pedal for Scotland

I shot a few pictures last week for the launch of the freshnlo Pedal for Scotland bike ride on the 9th of September.
Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland internationalists Ross Ford and David Denton officially welcomed freshnlo Pedal for Scotland to Murrayfield (which will host the finish line) by getting on some comedy bikes.

After a few practice rides we were ready for the real thing, but I wouldn’t fancy riding the full 47 miles on one of these bikes!

freshnlo Pedal for Scotland is taking place on Sunday 9th September, setting off from Glasgow Green and finishing in style at Murrayfield Stadium. From newcomers who just want to get fit and enjoy a fresh challenge to serious road cyclists, participants have the choice of two different routes: The classic freshnlo Pedal for Scotland Challenge Ride is a 47 mile ride between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The other route has been made considerably harder for 2012. The 110 mile timed ride now features 2400m of ascent, taking a longer route between Glasgow and Edinburgh for a more serious challenge.
Supported by charity partner Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres for the fourth year, participants can also raise money for a good cause.

Amnesty at the Edinburgh Festival

I get commissioned every year to photograph the Amnesty comedy gig “Stand up for Freedom” at the Edinburgh Festival and they never disappoint.
Take the best comedians from the festival and put them on in one show…what’s not to like!
Hosted again by Fred MacAulay and Susan Calman, the line-up that includes the multi-talented Josie Long; Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer 2011 Hannibal Buress; star of Channel 4’s Stand Up For the Week Sara Pascoe; sketch trio Pappy’s; David O’Doherty; newcomer Rob Beckett; cabaret duo Frisky and Mannish

This year Amnesty were showing their support for the Russian punk band Pussy Riot.

If your like me and don’t have the time to see all of the festival, this is a great way to get a fantastic taster.
Don’t miss the Comics v Critics football match on Sunday 2pm kick-off at the Meadows.
