My favorite pix 0f 2014

It’s been another great year, now in my 14th year as a freelance photographer…wow can’t believe where the time has gone!
Over the years I have been privileged to photograph some amazing things, meeting some great people and traveling to places I would never think of going to, all with there own individual challenges but I would not swap my job for anything else!
I have put together a few of my favorite images from 2014, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them! They all tell a different story and mean so many different things to me.

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit to Glasgow

Some times you just have to love your job…
What a week, I had the rare occasion of taking a bank holiday off, had a great day out with the family.
Then it was back to work…one day I might just get a real job!
Had the great privilege of photographing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge or as there known in Scotland The Earl and Countess of Strathearn.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Glasgow to tour the Emirates Arena, specially built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

They were both great to photograph, nothing to challenging on the technical front.
Just making sure I got some great shots for my client…and of course the Duchess smiling.

And here’s one I did yesterday of Prince Charles sharing a joke with trainee chefs on the Prince’s Trust “get in to programme” at Dumfries House.

The Prince’s Trust Ambassadors Ball

The Prince’s Trust Ambassadors Ball

Another great fundraising night by the Prince’s Trust to celebrate some of their young ambassadors, an elegant black tie event with auctions, fashion show by Basler and a special performance by 2011 x-factor runner-up Marcus Collins.

The event was held at the luxurious Grand Central Hotel Glasgow, having shot a few different events a this wonderful hotel I know what to expect in the way of the lighting set up they use and also access to the stage areas and any other last minute requests that always crop up on the night!

First up after dinner was the fashion show by Basler, a great collection of evening wear.

Just before Marcus Collins preformed I set up to do a quick portrait of him in the corridor as he was going in to the Ball Room.

A week photographing Prince Charles…

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing HRH The Duke of Rothesay, Prince Charles.
I had six commissions during the week photographing Prince Charles during his weeklong engagements in Scotland.

The first image were from a reception for the Prince’s Trust at The Palace of Holyrood House. I have shot in the Palace many a time and the rooms are stunning just what you would expect from a royal palace…large wonderful tapestries depicting a range of historical events from a time when “great” was still in Great Britain!

The second couldn’t have been more different, on board Marine Scotland’s new research vessel during a visit to Leith harbour he helped serve up fish & chips in the ship’s galley.

Below he addressed the sixth World Fisheries Congress in Edinburgh at the EICC.
And then off to the National Museum for Scotland to hand out awards at the Scottish Business in the Community, 30th Anniversary Dinner

Another reception…Don’t think I released just how hard the Royal family works, until you see it first hand over a few days.
Then a tour round Craigroyston Community High School where he stopped and engaged with pupils and staff.
What a week great fun and managed to get a fantastic set of images while keeping my distance an observing the Royal protocols.
A long week shooting all day then editing well in to the wee hours, to get the images over to my clients. I also shot a video of HRH making his speech at the EICC, edited and uploaded to clients website within a few hours.
