The Queen’s Garden Party

One day I’ll get a real job!

Those of you who are regulars to my blog will know how much I love my job, and this is one of the reasons why!

I was commissioned to cover The Queen’s Garden Party at The Palace of HolyroodHouse.

I’ve photographed the Royal Family on many an occasion over the years but this is my first garden party.

What a great day and not even a typical Scottish summers day dampened the occasion, everyone I spoke to and photographed were loving it, from the ladies of the woman’s institute to serving and ex members of our amazing armed forces.

My favorite pix 0f 2014

It’s been another great year, now in my 14th year as a freelance photographer…wow can’t believe where the time has gone!
Over the years I have been privileged to photograph some amazing things, meeting some great people and traveling to places I would never think of going to, all with there own individual challenges but I would not swap my job for anything else!
I have put together a few of my favorite images from 2014, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them! They all tell a different story and mean so many different things to me.

Love your clothes!

Good bit of forward planning by the PR and myself made this a great and enjoyable shoot.

The idea was to get coverage for a new campaign to encourage Scots to value clothes more and waste less.

Love Your Clothes

With the help of former supermodel and head of Edinburgh International Fashion Festival Anna Freemantle, designer Niki Taylor and some fashion students it was off to Nathan’s Wastesavers recycling plant, which made for a great backdrop to a very worthy campaign.

The aim…to get people to value their clothes more and reduce the environmental impact of the clothing sector and how to ‘upcycle’ clothes to make them last longer.

First Christmas picture of the year…

Funny old game…press photography.
I shot my first Christmas picture on one of the hottest days of the year, back in July!

Commissioned to shoot some celebrities for the 2013 Save the Children Christmas jumper day on the 13th of December.
Once the bad taste cast-off Christmas presents, you get to wear a Christmas jumper for the day and donate £1.

Back stage at this years T in the park I managed to photograph a few of the bands, I did get a few funny looks when I appeared with some woolly jumpers, but they all took it in there stride!

I managed to get 10 minutes with The Proclaimers, Charlie and Craig who I have photographed on many an occasion over the years were great sports and more than happy to add their support to the Save the Children jumper day appeal.

Of Monsters and Men, were great fun to work with.

Decon Blue who wanted to keep the jumpers, must be an 80’s thing!

Enough Food For Everyone “IF” campaign

I was commissioned to cover the launch of a great cause today, (always nice to cover something worthwhile) The Enough Food For Everyone “IF” campaign brings together more than 100 organizations and was launched in Glasgow today.
This is a joint campaign with Save the Children, Oxfam and a host of other charities.

Enough food for everyone, IF.

With so many different charities involved with this campaign there was a lot of hanging around on a cold Glasgow street.
But after two patient hours it got started and Scottish actor Atta Yaqub (Ae Fond Kiss) was a pleasure to work with as usual.
My only concern at this time of year, is the light goes very quickly in the afternoon, but managed I to get a fantastic set of images for my client.
Enough food for everyone, IF.

Lets hope it raises lots of money and awareness for a great cause.

Colin & Justin – style guru’s ?

Then my next job with Glasgow’s self-proclaimed style guru’s Colin & Justin…but not today wearing those jumpers. As usual arrived early to scout out a good location for the shoot, then went off and bought a few Christmas props for the boys to wear.

This was in aid of Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, which takes place on Friday 14 December. Over 6,000 people from schools and workplaces across Scotland have already signed up to donate £1 to wear their winter woolies on the day for the charity.

Colin & Justin were true professionals and a pleasure to work with, the only problem I had was editing the images, just a shame I had to leave so many out.

The Prince’s Trust Ambassadors Ball

The Prince’s Trust Ambassadors Ball

Another great fundraising night by the Prince’s Trust to celebrate some of their young ambassadors, an elegant black tie event with auctions, fashion show by Basler and a special performance by 2011 x-factor runner-up Marcus Collins.

The event was held at the luxurious Grand Central Hotel Glasgow, having shot a few different events a this wonderful hotel I know what to expect in the way of the lighting set up they use and also access to the stage areas and any other last minute requests that always crop up on the night!

First up after dinner was the fashion show by Basler, a great collection of evening wear.

Just before Marcus Collins preformed I set up to do a quick portrait of him in the corridor as he was going in to the Ball Room.
