The remotest place on mainland UK!

I just love my job, I get to photograph so many different people and locations form all walks of life, I always find it very interesting getting an insight and knowledge in to so many different industries.

I would never get to so many places through my work and when an email dropped in for a shoot described as “the remotest part of the UK” I jumped at the chance…and the client wasn’t exaggerating!

I drove to Mallaig then crossed on a private ferry to Knoydart…one pub (which opens when the landlord can be bothered) and a school with 14 pupils!
Fantastic shoot with a real sense of being out in the wilderness, will have to go back at somepoint…

Scottish Game Fair

Nice shoot with the girls from the Three Sisters Bake at Quarriers Village café…even managed to keep my feet dry!

Deerstalking

I had a call from a magazine to do a feature on deerstalking with a top London chef.

This sounded exciting just the sort of feature a photographer lives for, with the potential to make for some stunning images.

4am start lots of hiking up hills and finally just as the sun came up we spotted a few deer, time for the chef to catch his lunch!

It was just such a beautiful morning perfect conditions for photography, first thing or last thing when the sun is at it’s lowest, the golden hour!

Great shoot (sorry about the pun) with a set of pictures I am really proud of, but think I will be sticking to buying my meat off the supermarket shelves!

Who doesn’t love chocolate!

As a bit of a foodie I love it when I get the chance to combine two of my favourite passions…photography and food.
Cocoa Black, Peebles based chocolatier.

I was recently commissioned to shoot a feature on a chocolate maker in the Scottish Borders, Coco Blacks.
The first thing that hits you is the wonderful deep aroma of chocolate, so thick in the air you can almost feel the calories piling on!

Run by Husband and Wife David And Ruth Hinks who do I fantastic job, and don’t forget to visit the Café if your ever in Peebles.

When I was there they were making Easter bunnies, rows and rows of chocolate bunnies!
Driving home I left I had a deep urge to eat some chocolate!

There are some great historical events coming up in Scotland over the next year.

I was recently commissioned to photograph artist Iona Leishmam, Historic Scotland’s First Artist in Residence.
Iona had just completed a series of paintings to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden the 1513 battle which killed James IV.

Shoot was organised at the fabulous Stirling Castle, if you haven’t been well worth the visit, with great views looking down over Stirling.

Big thanks to Iona and the Historic Scotland press team who were very patient with me as the shoot took a lot longer than normal… trying to shoot mid morning without getting any tourists in shot is never easy!
