Ross Kemp Behind Bars – Inside Barlinnie

I had a great day with Ross Kemp shooting the stills for his new documentary Ross Kemp Behind Bars – Inside Barlinnie.

Love my job every day is so different I recently spent a day with Ross Kemp in Barlinnie Prison, how else would I get in to Barlinnie (apart from the obvious) what an interesting place a bit of a gold mine for photographers with all the old Victorian architecture.
Ross Kemp in HM Prison Barlinnie,

I had never worked with Ross before and like most of us I had only built up a picture form his TV appearances, but a nicer more helpful guy you could not meet, a pleasure to work with, made my workday a lot easier along with the film crew.
Ross Kemp in HM Prison Barlinnie,

In and out in a day, not many can say that about Barlinnie!

Don’t miss it – tonight STV at 9pm!

Grand Central Hotel champagne bar gets a makeover.

The iconic Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow has given their champagne bar a bit of a makeover.

Nice wee job for a Friday morning with former Miss Scotland and TV presenter, Jennifer Reoch.

Love this iconic Champagne Bar with all it’s history and the old style décor mixed in with a blend of 21st century luxury.

Great shoot photographing the refurbished bar where the likes of Frank Sinatra and Fred Astaire enjoyed a wee tipple!

Lunch with an Old Bag!

This is my sixth year photographing Lunch with an Old Bag and it just gets bigger and better!

LWOB is an annual charity fundraiser on behalf of the Prince’s Trust Scotland at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh courtesy of owner James Thomson OBE and  raised a whopping £706,593!

The event was attended by a host of stars, including disco legends Sister Sledge, who doesn’t remember dancing to “we are family” and “lost in music” still sounded as good today and brought back some great memories from when I was a teenager at the local disco!

I missed out on seeing comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli at the Fringe so this was a great surprise and he didn’t disappoint!

Shadows of War Roger Fenton’s Photographs of the Crimea

A great exhibition focusing exclusively on Roger Fenton’s pioneering photographs of the Crimean War, taken in 1855. Fenton was already an accomplished and respected photographer when he was sent by the publishers Agnew’s to photograph a war that pitched Britain, France and Turkey as allies against Russia.  Arriving several months after the major battles were fought in 1854, Fenton focused on creating moving portraits of the troops, as well as capturing the stark, empty battlefields on which so many lost their lives.

At The Queen’s Gallery, Palace of Holyroodhouse until November, well worth a visit.

The Queen’s Garden Party

One day I’ll get a real job!

Those of you who are regulars to my blog will know how much I love my job, and this is one of the reasons why!

I was commissioned to cover The Queen’s Garden Party at The Palace of HolyroodHouse.

I’ve photographed the Royal Family on many an occasion over the years but this is my first garden party.

What a great day and not even a typical Scottish summers day dampened the occasion, everyone I spoke to and photographed were loving it, from the ladies of the woman’s institute to serving and ex members of our amazing armed forces.

Scottish Game Fair

One of my New Years resolutions was to post more on my blog, so this is my third post this year…not not sure if I should congratulate myself or not!

For the past three years I have covered the Scottish Game Fair at Scone, Perthshire a lovely part of the country. This year I was the sole official photographer tasked with getting all the press, PR and marketing photography over three days.

It’s long days and hard work (over the three days I walked 14.5 miles) but so rewarding, I love this event so many great picture opportunities to be had!

Tartan Gig 2017

Covered a fantastic gig on Saturday at the Glasgow SSE Hydro!

Tartan Gig 2017 the Girlguiding concert, very busy day as I was the only official photographer and tasked to cover everything!

With it all going on at the same time as the concert, first two songs shoot some fans enjoying the concert and get back stage for some shots of the artists at the media board, all in all a great day and a very happy client.

Not exactly my sort of music but you have to appreciate live gigs.

Louisa Johnson was amazing and the very energetic John Newman was a challenge to capture!
