It’s been a very busy month with lots of long days, stating early and finishing late…still editing at 2am so my clients have their images for first thing the next working day.
I wouldn’t change it for the world, as I sit here in my kitchen looking out on a lovely sunny morning listening to the radio working away.
Being self-employed is fantastic not for everyone but certainly for this photographer, still not bored and now in my 19th year as a freelancer!
A few images from June, I choose them for many different reasons, how good the light was on a specific shoot, the people oh and the people, working across so many diverse industries is such a pleasure and an insight.
meeting them all from apprentice electricians all the way up to the CEO and everyone in-between, I always enjoy a good chat with them before I start taking a picture.

I had a great day with Ross Kemp shooting the stills for his new documentary Ross Kemp Behind Bars – Inside Barlinnie.
Love my job every day is so different I recently spent a day with Ross Kemp in Barlinnie Prison, how else would I get in to Barlinnie (apart from the obvious) what an interesting place a bit of a gold mine for photographers with all the old Victorian architecture.
I had never worked with Ross before and like most of us I had only built up a picture form his TV appearances, but a nicer more helpful guy you could not meet, a pleasure to work with, made my workday a lot easier along with the film crew.
In and out in a day, not many can say that about Barlinnie!
Don’t miss it – tonight STV at 9pm!

Deep breath…
My client in Edinburgh has two sites with over 1000 staff, and they wanted them all photographed!
The photography was straightforward enough, head and holders with a white background.
The challenge here was to make sure all the images corresponded to the correct people to be loaded on to my clients system for future reference.
I devised a simple system with my client, which involved excellent people skills and a few large boxes of chocolates!
I had broken down all the staff into 8 days 4 days each week, and then organised them to come down at set times, with a half day at the end of each week for any ones I had missed.
I edited and named all the images each night that way names and faces would still be fresh in my mind.
Turned out to be a great shoot meeting a lot of nice people, and a big thanks to Emma & Leigh for all there help and supplying me with plenty of coffee!
